Hi and welcome to my first tutorial series, Polymer Clay Magic: From Concept to Character. If you're here to learn about the process of polymer clay character sculpting and perhaps a bit more, you've come to the right place! I'm Liz Morris, artist and founder of Peppermint Rose Productions and I sculpt collectible character figurines in polymer clay. Like so many artists, I suffer an incurable obsession with Disney, Tim Burton, and the enchanting world of stop motion animation and miniatures.
In this new series of tutorials, we will enter the captivating realm of character sculpting, exploring a variety of topics. Our discussions will cover techniques ranging from initial concepts and character design to polymer clay sculpting and special effects for characters and scenes. As a fun bonus, we'll dive into one of my favorite distractions - sculpting miniature food! Finally, we'll explore how to reproduce your figurines - weighing the pros and cons of traditional molding and casting versus photogrammetry, digital modeling, and 3D printing.
Master the Art of Sculpting Whimsical Polymer Clay Characters
Our first tutorial in the series, Concept Design for Polymer Clay Character Sculpting, will be posted Tuesday, 11/12/24. In the meantime, feel free to contact me with questions, share your projects, or check out what I'm currently working on - Madly Wonderland, Piggleston (a children's book in progress) along with one-of-a-kind figurines like Epiphany, a tribute to Vincent Price.
Whether you are a novice or a seasoned sculptor, polymer clay offers endless possibilities for discovery. If you have ideas on something you'd like me to post about, please let me know! Let's embark on this creative journey together and bring something truly remarkable to life!
